I'm not entirely sure but this could be an Internet Explorer problem at the
client side. I'm making this guess based on the fact that my IE (under WinXP)
saves files in the cache as filename[1].ext . But obviously your problem could
be something totally different. What OS and IE version are you using on your
laptop?

Hi all,
Wonder if you can help me with a small local file handling snafuu here;
Darn (1)'s on the end of file names...
Run Xitami here on my desktop .. WWW access it from my couch potato Laptop.
Both are at home, local networked to a DSL modem with a little 4port
router. Desktop/Notebook are Not file sharing networked, I simply let the
laptop access server via IEplorers http://ods.org/
With the laptop from home, whenever I access the http server with IE to play
a tune or move a file, the files are getting a (1) added at the end of the
filenames coming to the laptop.
ie; songname.mp3(1) progname.zip(1) etc...
Makes it difficult to play that mp3 or open that zip without doing a save as
and erasing the darn (1)... and mp3(1) isn't an associated file.ext so it
won't just click and autolaunch MediaPlayer either.
Fuji bridging dsl.modem > D-Link router(di-624)
Win98 Desktop with Xitami http server wired.NIC
WinME Toshiba notebook wireless.NIC
Suggestions, Ideas as to why - appreciated.
Thanks Mike
