[Xitami] Windows XP

Runs under XP home just fine. I've been running it on my XP home box (AMD
1.0GHz w/ 256MB ram) for the past 7-8 months without problem. I can't
really tell that Xitami is running when using my box heavily. I am hosting
my site on this machine and am using SSI and Perl (ActivePerl).
Xitami should be a really good choice for your purposes. FYI, I have also
been able to get ColdFusion running with Xitami. I would suggest going with
version 2.5b5 as it has the SSI processor built in and with 2.4d9 the SSI
processor is a Perl script (which isn't as fast). The only draw-back to
2.5b5 that you should be aware of is there is a bug with virtual hosts that
cause them to not work correctly (see the list archives from April to June
for more on this). Also, some required files are not in the .exe install
package, so you'll have to download the .zip source kit to get those). A
little bit of work to get it working, but after it's up and running there
really isn't too much that needs to be done. Plus the web admin is a
heckuva lot nicer than any other freeware web servers out there (I've tried
several others before landing on Xitami and have actually been using Xitami
on-and-off for the past 4-5 years).
Good luck

Subject: [Xitami] Windows XP
I want to install a web server on my laptop merely for testing websites
that I develop that require features such as SSI.
Will Xitami run on Windows XP (Home Edition) and, if not, has anybody
any suggestions for another web server that will meet these needs?
Thanks,
